Hope everyone is doing well and preparing well for finals! Praying for each and everyone of you guys for wisdom and good health as we move along the last stretch.

This post is to welcome ANDERS to the team. He will be taking over next semester/over this coming summer as I will be moving onto Outreach Coordinator :)

Sex slavery is defined as when people use other people for sex. Just like any type of slavery, the task that they order the other person to do— the “slave” is not willing to do it. It is a form of abuse. Either the slave is persuaded or forced to go on with it. Some people are sold into the business because of debt problems or have no where else to go. They can catch many diseases such as HIV/AIDS because many have unprotected sex and some are drugged (sharing needles) to keep them dependent on their bosses.

Humans are not objects and should NOT be used just for physical sex. We all have a purpose in life and it IS NOT to be someone else’s object.

There are children (boys, girls), men and women sex slaves in the world. These people have their lives ripped away from them.

Two children are sold every minute.

Did you know our fellowship was mentioned in the Statesmen, our school newspaper? Praise God! People will continue to learn about sex slavery and end it! People will learn more about God and Jesus’ love for us!

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship will be collaborating with NYCUP, New York City Urban Project to raise awareness of human/sex trafficking that is happening right here in our own New York area. We want everyone to realize how close this matter is to us. It is not just some issue happening overseas. We will also be collecting donations for the organization LOVE 146. Funds will be used for programs to help people who have been victims of trafficking, in order to easily rebuild their lives after suffering in that environment.

Please come out to support!

KOREAN CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP’S “COME AND SEE”

Hi guys,

So this week instead of having our regular large group meeting, we will be attending KCF’s(Korean Christian Fellowship) event. The event starts at 8PM this thursday in the Sac Auditorium. This is an event to come and see what God …has done through videos, performances, testimonies and more. Come and invite all your friends.

Also, Intervarsity’s event Love out Loud will take place during April 26th. More details as the time comes but it is an event focusing on a social injustice theme. This year, we are focusing on human trafficking.

Intervarsity: Evangelism

Hey all,

This week we’re going to be looking at an important aspect of Christianity: evangelism. God calls us all to evangelize, to spread the Good News to peoples of all nations. However, how do we evangelize a world that is so based in atheistic cynicism? How do we reach a world that seems to completely reject the Word in favor of scientific reason? Come this Thursday to really learn what evangelism in the modern world looks like!

In addition, Lighthouse Church will be holding an international dinner this Friday Mar 9th. There is limited room available so if you are interested, come sign up. More information will be given tomorrow during the meeting.

Intervarsity: Identity

Hey guys,

So this week, will be having an alumni from stony brook speak. He’ll be talking about our identities as students, as people and, most importantly, our identity as children of God. The concept of identity is one that many of us go through as we try to find our place in the world. However, there is more than just that…so come on Thursday to see what it really means to be identified with God and his love.

Also, TODAY 2/29 IV will be hosting an event with CCF and KCF called United We Stand. It is a music event worshiping God in all has splendid glory. Everyone is invited. Please come for a night of musical worship.

Intervarsity: Testimony night

Hey everyone,

This week for Intervarsity, we will be meeting thursday at 8:30pm in SAC 305. We will be having a testimony night this meeting. A testimony is someone’s life story of how they came to know Christ and where their walk with God has taken them now. Come and hear some stories.

Also, next week we will not be meeting in our usual room in SAC 305. Next week Feb 23rd, we will be holding concert of prayer which will be held in Union Ballroom. Concert of prayer is an annual event which Intervarsity hosts where we come as Christians come together in unified prayer. More details will be given tomorrow at Large group.

One more thing, this Saturday Fed 18th we will be holding a small group training workshop led by Anthony Carrubba. Anyone interested in leading a small group or just wants to learn more about small groups should definitely come check it out.
